No Matter What I’m Always Reds’ Fan

Introspective from a young, exhausted, battered Cincinnatian.

I have been a Reds fan my whole life.

Well, since 2002.

Yes, I’ll still a very young fan, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

In that span, the Reds have played 2,566 regular season games.

Of those – they have won 1233 and lost 1333.

That is a 0.480 win percentage.

I have seen the Reds go to the playoffs three separate times.

But we all know how that worked out… 2-7. Not great.

Sure, I could write why you should be a fan of another team. But I’m not writing about that. This is why I am still a Reds fan. I could have easily chose another team that was doing better and was winning games. Take the Cubs for an example.

They didn’t win a World Series in 108 YEARS.

108.

Freaking.

YEARS.

Let that sink in.

Entire generations never knowing what it feels like to win The Series. During that span the Cubs were bad. Historically bad. Unbelievably bad.

Guess what? Fans still showed up and supported. That’s what us TRUE Reds fans need to do.

I have been to games with 40,000 plus to the ones where under 10,000 show up.

The players love seeing a full house of drunk, crazy, passionate fans. It gives them a sense of pride that the whole town comes out to watch our hometown Cincinnati Reds take the field.

Am I tired of losing? Yes.

Are the players tired of losing? Yes.

Do I know when things will get better for the Reds? No.

But what I do know is, the more we support the Reds and rally around them during hardships and struggles.. the more things will get better because it will show people will care. I look forward to seeing fellow Reds Fans fill Great American Ballpark.

As the journey to the World Series begins Thursday, March 29, 2018.

Go Reds.
