Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon was acquitted of an aggravated menacing charge on Thursday. The charge stemmed from an alleged road rage incident in January, during which a woman accused Mixon of brandishing a firearm and making threats.
During the court proceedings, camera footage depicted Mixon and the woman’s vehicles in proximity, but no evidence of a firearm being displayed was observed. Initially, the charges were dropped, only to be refiled after the case was reassigned to a new investigator.
In March, there was a shooting at Mixon’s residence involving a teenager. It was later revealed that Mixon was not present at home during the shooting.
With a restructured contract in place and his legal matters resolved, Mixon can now direct his attention to football without the burden of further distractions.
